What's the problem?
Because the last 2 winters were very dry, the lake is very low. We hope to get significant rain next winter, but the lake will continue to drop until then.

  • All the water for Redwood Valley County Water District comes from Lake Mendocino.
  • Because of the dry winters and reduced water coming from the Eel River through the Potter Valley Project, the lake is low and rapidly getting lower.
  • If we do not conserve now, we may all literally run out of water.
